What is a Mission?
A SHARES International mission is comprised of many individuals including nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists and other volunteers who serve as international liaisons, such as Rotarian volunteers. These individuals work as a team to help heal children who may otherwise not have the opportunity to receive quality medical care. Each SHARES International mission affects the lives of more than thirty children and their families by providing hope and help.
Testimonials
“I have always wanted to participate in mission trips, having grown up watching my parents organize and participate in medical mission trips throughout the rural villages of Egypt. When I heard of an opportunity to lead a group of physicians and medical personnel to Mexico, I immediately volunteered.
I was always told that where there’s a will, there’s a way, and that’s exactly how I would explain my experience on this trip. From the early beginnings, during the stages of organizing a team, to the traveling, to completing the mission trip, the will-power, prayers, team work, and hard work of our medical team was instrumental in making the trip a success.
This experience enlightens our physicians and residents to the health care needs of the larger human community, plants the seed of mission work in our hearts, and revives the humanism of medicine. I could not have wished for a better team and a better place to begin what I hope will be a life long commitment to Mission work. Thank you to SHARES for helping to make this possible.”
